What is KPS?

Komunitas Penadbiran Sampah (Waste Governance Community) – abbreviated to KPS – is a girls' environmental NGO working in Indonesia. We aim to promote good plastic governance in order to reduce poverty while protecting the nature. We do this by enhancing the capacity of girls’ groups within poor communities living in rural, urban, and coastal areas to reduce, reuse, recycle, and upcycle plastic waste in a more sustainable way.

KPS was founded on September 29, 2016 in Madiun, East Java Province, Indonesia, by 17 needy girls who live on waste collection and management from various slums in Indonesia. These girls always try to find good ideas about how to best govern plastic waste in order to free themselves and other girls like them from poverty trap in a sustainable manner.
